What is the lightest shade of blue or aqua I can use. I have Blue bayou and it makes the water too dark.

none of the regulars here use anything but the color green, as in plants, to do what you're attempting to do. So, not going to be a lot of help. The only suggestion is to experiment until you find the right color you want and the color that hinders algae growth. Most ponders here understand algae is an integral component to a pond's system balance and that natural methods work better than man-made solutions.

Get some floating plants if shade is what you are looking for.

Keep it natural. No dyes or any chemicals, no matter what those big online companies say.

I always cringe when I look through catalogs and online listings.
I'll look through the food, pumps, fish, wonderful plants, etc. Then I'll get to the pages full of chemicals... dyes, algecides, muck "cures", liquid and powder "bacterias" and all the other "snake oils".... that's when I cringe!
