Jesus... these birds are smart... 😣😮 The heron ate some pike-perches in my pond, I then installed a netting DIY made from fishing lines. Hope that helps...
A wide weave net hung 2 feet over the pond is the only thing that stopped them. Fought them for years.

This is impressive, after 14yrs? It's a good exhibit for naturalizing. Once the plants get established, for a lot of people, it gets out of hand quickly. Things are pretty easy years 1-3, but typically on year 3 the plants that made it start to thrive and those that didn't are infilled with other plants. Maintenance with established plants is a whole other level of understanding lol. Well done, you converted the lawn back to a naturalized environment. I don't really understand how you got the stream down that slope though because there appeared to be some excessively steep sections. I went through 20 of the pages or so but there must be plunge pools at each switch back and the rock in the stream must be 4" plus or you're running at 2000gph or something? I run at 4000-6000gph and my 1" stone is just heavy enough to stay in place on 2-5% stream beds.

I do pull bog plants out about twice a summer. In the spring I usually do a deep purge, this spring due to all my surgeries I wasn't able to . Doc restrictions.

So once I can I will get out there with a pitch fork yanking out plants.

Our slope is about 25 degrees, I did a switch back stream. With small pond at each turn.

The pump is a harbor freight clear water pump. It handles the approximate 120 feet of head pressure.

The stream is edged with boulders , rocks, some laid over the stream bed. Size, the size I was whatever I was able to carry or roll up the slope.

I did double liner , the deer walk in the stream oner the winter.

It ended up being about 85 feet long.

Two deck ponds waterfall into the stream. Which waterfalls into the big pond.
