Hi
i have a Blagdon external pond pump which for some reason stopped sucking up the water even though the pump is working. I have checked all pipe work and it is all sealed. Any ideas on what could be the problem.

I can only guess since I only use submersible pumps in my pond.

There must be some type of impeller that moves the water. Could that impeller have separated from it's shaft? Maybe a set screw fell out?
Maybe the impeller itself is broken?

I'm only guessing and comparing it to my pool pump.

Exactly how is it acting?

Silly basic questions:
Does it need to be primed?
Has it worked before or is this new to you?

Is there a basket housing that collects large debris ahead of the pump, like pool pumps?
If so, is there any water in that housing? Is it a mixture of water and air?

My pool has an external pump and if air gets into the basket housing, it will bubble and gasp and not pump the water.
