would it better to have a deeper pond with less surface area or a more shallow pond with more surface area? i assume its the deep pond because of temperature change but i still wanted to ask

well a happy medium is good as much depth with as much surface area as possilbe but the depth is good as preditor defence and temp stability.

say 11 x 9 x 4 and lets jus say 12 x 10 x 3

I would go 11x9x4. I went 3 feet deep on mine and afterwards wished i went a little deeper.

with only a foot difference each way..why not 10 x12 x 4 ? trying to stay in the boundarys of a liner you have?

I don't have a liner yet and those were just examples. I'm wanting to go 11 x 9 x 4 for the pond. jus didn't know if that was the best route say over a shallower pond with more surface area.
