Any ideas as to what would cause this UV lamp to fail, black at both ends ?
I do not see any breaks in the Quartz Sleeve Assembly.

No watermarks or any obvious break, I hooked it backup after winter storage powered up and no light not sure if it was last fall that it failed or this year as it is difficult to tell its working except at night when you can see a glow at the end of the unit if on. I am concerned about the replacement lamp burning out if it is caused by some other reason such as the transformer or possible other causes? Interesting that the replacement lamps are twice as much in Ontario Canada then the USA.

Hello
Not a electrician really
I can not tell you if it is the transformer that burned out the bulb.
There is never a guarantee with Electrical stuff so if you by a bulb and connect it and it works happy days but if it burns out becuase of the transformer
You will lose that money.

I am having the same issue with mine so I figure it is better to just by a whole unit.
Then to try and fix the transformer or waste time with other things.

If you by a transformer and that is not it you can not take it back so it is take a chance or throw away the old save some time and head ache and by a new one.

Or you can take it to a electric shop pay to check it and the parts but I am sure it will cost more to fix it then a new one.

In the year and half I have had this unit, its been used about 5 months in any event I will order a new lamp it either works or it doesn't we shall see. Can't really justify a new unit after 5 months of use. Are the transformers a typical problem with a UV ?

Aqua uv makes some of the best uv's on the market. My 57w unit has worked for several years w/o issues..... My 80w one is 10+yrs old w/o a issue

Hard to say why it went out on you but they do make excellent stuff!
