What part of VT? I live in upstate NY near the border of VT and Can.
Hi,

I'm near Burlington in Essex Jct. Do you have koi to offer? I did obtain (6) from KLOUBEC Koi a few weeks ago. Seems to be doing well with no signs of diseases (yet). My only issue with them that i didnt receive feedback back when i sent them an email about status. Must have been too busy to reply.

Thanks for your reply.

I live in Champlain NY. I am looking to purchase some from https://koisale.com/ BlackWater Creek. They have some awesome deals. I am thinking about getting some peanuts and grow and cull them in stock tank until my pond is ready. I resently reclaimed what was left of a pond I built 20 years ago and was neglected ever since. So now I got the bug to build another one on my new property. Looking to build a 20 x 20 x 4'(at the deepest point) part of this main pond will include a 7 x7 x 3' intake bay area pumping out to a 6 x 7 x3' bio-falls and possibly a small stream. I was able to reclaim some of the old 45 mil linear to use under big rocks but I bought a new 60 mil liner for both. All I need is some dry weather. Check out the koi site another good place is Toledo https://toledogoldfish.com

Good job on rebuilding your pond and thoughts for sites. Always a challenge, but great to watch it progress. One thing i have learned is oversize your pumps and use quality fittings/flexible hose (PVC pressure fittings). 4' deep will work well for our winters. An air aerator also helps too in our winters.

Hanover Koi https://hanoverkoifarms.com/product-category/koi-for-sale/ is another source for healthy northern grown koi. The owner is kinda grumpy though. I found this place near Canandaigua NY. http://www.willowpondkoifarm.com/ Dont think he ships though. Lots of pond knowledge. I had stopped there on my travels back from Ohio.

Have fun and enjoy your progress.

Meant to add. I added an Aquadyne filter system a couple summers ago. Seems to improved water quality quite a bit and fish stay healthy. Not cheap though. I rinse once a week. Fairly easy. Much less maintenance (and messiness) than rinsing filter pads.

Yes, the last pond I built was 6' deep, it was a pain to keep the bottom clean. Another thing about going deep is falling in, you don't want to slip off the edge especially if your wearing waders.
I have two 5000 gal/hr sequence pumps, I am just hooking up one and see what kind of flow I get. they have max head of 23' and use around 350 watts. I had two hooked up at my old pond and the waterfalls looked like niagra falls. I am using flexable 2" PVC, last time I used ridged pipe, so this should be easier. I am hoping that between the bio-falls and the intake bay I will have sufficient filtration. I was also able to reclaim my Aqua Ultraviolet 120 watt UV, need to get new bulbs but the unit looks in good shape. If I hook up the UV I am going to try one of those sine wave DC pumps, OZPONDS on youtube has some great videos on them and other pond tips.

Jebao DCP Sine Wave Water Return Pump (DCP-20000)

to run the UV.

I like the ideal of the peanut size Koi, the parent stock is top notch so you never know there may be a real jewel in the bunch. Besides that I'm have a hard time to justify spending too much on a paticular fish.
