I am so sad and mad at myself. I have been using quilt batting around pump to filter out particulates. Yesterday I came out to check on the fish and one was missing. I figured I just didn't see it. I go out today and 5 are missing. I shut off all my pumps and looked around not seeing anything. I noticed a hole in the side of the quilt batting and pulled it up and inside were all 5 fish...

So preventable... I should have looked yesterday when one was missing. Poor things must have swam in the hole and couldn't get out..

UThey were little feeder fish I got when we first purchased the house. One turned all black and had orange eyebrows and was my favorite. Would have looked so cool full grown..

Sorry for the rant. My fiancee doesn't get it but I do all the work weekly on the pond. I knew the quilt batting was due for changed and I neglected. Ugh..

Sorry for the loss of your fish, it's understandable you're feeling sad. By sharing your experience , it may help another avoid a similar outcome.

Sorry about you losing fish. Everyone on this site has learned by trial and error. As you get more experienced you learn from past problems. I know this is after the fact but i don't like anything around the pond the fish can get stuck in unless I'm standing there watching it.

Sorry to hear. I lost my favorite fish last year and I'm still sad about it. It was very unique.

Sorry but you gave them much longer and better life. I also have a " feeder" that is my favorite.

I'm sorry! I found one of my 7 inch fish floating yesterday. :( He was also a rescued feeder fish and had really nice coloration and a fun personality. It's a bummer to find a dead fish.

So sorry. Get a laguna pump. They come in a cage to stop large solids from blocking the pump.
