Nice! I love the Yellow one. Good pics overall. I would have chosen that one for sure! where did you get them? What colors did the ones you received turn out to be from the very begining of this post?

If I'm not mistaken, she went to Indianapolis and got them from a private breeder that has a koi sale every spring, and sometimes later in the summer. I get his e-mails of the sales, and he mentioned he had some left. If you're interested in his name, ICSD, pm me and I'll give you his info. He's another ponder on here! I got my first koi from him 2 years ago. I still have all of them.

Yes Country, that's where I got them! A girlfriend and I drove all the way to Indy for those beauties! Lol! Only 2.5 hours, so worth it I would say. He had a really nice selection, and was really cool to buy from! I'm sure I'll go again. As for the other question, Frank was the only one of our first ones who changed color. His yellow turned orange : ( My new yellow guy is much bigger though so I'm praying he stays that way. Randy said those fish are 2 years old and all three were in the 10-12" range. Last yrs were babies and only about 3" when I bought them. Now, I'll have to go back to see if I ever posted it here, but I did buy a little butterfly from WalMart last year, and that ones has completely transformed and is beautiful! I can't wait to watch that one grow! There are more pics of my fish in the the pond photography thread I started and I'm sure I'll be adding lots and lots more as time goes on : )

Jen, I got one that was deep yellow, almost a orangish/yellow, and she is still that color. Here are the before, and after pics.
This was on July 2, 2011. Shamu was my first pick, he was the largest of these 3 (I think I got 6 or 7, the others were in the 3-4" size). The yellow one is deeper than a lemon yellow but you can compare her to the orange/red and white koi at the bottom of the pic.

Then, here is the same koi just a week or so ago. She is full of eggs, ready to spawn anytime. I believe she was the mama of the 4 babies I have from last year.

So, I bet your yellow stays yellow! Good luck.

He told me he thought it would. Also said something about water pH affecting their color. This I hadn't heard before. Oh so many variables with. Koi pond!! Btw, nice fish country : )
