Hey, just thought I'd share a pic of one the several very decentsized Rudd i managed to obtain recently from a pond clearance. Stunning fish.

Just as a note, Rudd's are illegal in many states in the US, including Pennsylvania. They are banned in Canada. While not a major issue at this time, they are a non-native species and are considered to be an invasive species for the US and Canada.

For the EU they look like a great fish and potential population control as they will eat small fish on occasion. But they mostly feed on vegetation. They will eat pond food according to several fact sheets.

OK, we'll keep the Rudd, it's a great looking fish, native to the UK. (y)

We'd like to get rid of the American Signal Crayfish that is decimating our native species in our rivers and waterways. (n)
I guess the lesson is we all need to protect our native habitats. A species that works perfectly well in one bio-system wreaks havoc when transplanted into another.
