water hyacinths

hi all,

i have a 400-500 gallon tank with two lilly pad sets. in the last few weeks my water hyacinths really took off. now it seems like i have less lilly pads and barely any blooms.

Can the water hyacinths be sucking up the nutrients?

the pads have laguna pond sticks.

I would say yes on the Nutirents and add that maybe the Hyacinths are also shading off the Lilly's and cuaseing the lack of blooms and pads.

thanks thats what iw as thinking. i removed about half the hyacacinths today. i noticed the more hyacinths bloomed the less pads i had. i dont know about shading but they were definitely touching the pads.
