When I first got mine they were really shy @JamieB and they still after several yrs seem much shyer then my goldies.
I think they will just need time and when they get hungry enough they will eat.
Pretty much the same as goldfish, just colored different.

Mine are not shy they chase me around the pond looking for food, nibble on my legs if I am in the water.

I got a pic of my big one! I love the tail! I was in my pond rearranging plants, my Goldie’s did swim around me a bit. So I noted my mystery lilly has red/ magenta colored new leaves, and the under side of leaves. I hope it blooms this year, I’d love to know what it is!
