Subaru are made very well.
But they are pretty rare here because no one needs 4 wheel drive.
Toyota is selling a Subaru badged as the Toyota F "86".
It's a flat four engined sports coupe.
Why Toyota is selling a Subaru is anyone's guess. But Toyota must think pretty highly of that competitor.
I think highly of both Subaru and Toyota, but I won't buy their coupe because it is only 2wd.
I've come to appreciate the smart all wheel drive vehicles for their safety on our dirt/mud/snow covered roads. My wife's Subaru will run circles around my F350 diesel 4WD. Except in deep snow - so we have both for different road conditions.
My 2006 F350 has 300,000 km on it and the only thing I don't like about it is the rust from road salt.

I did the scion car shows for 3 years. I like them. Too bad Toyota cancelled the line.

Boy are you correct about Fram being junk!
I've seen at least a dozen where the bonded filter material became detached from the housing. They filtered nothing at best and at worst, added suspended particles of whatever into the engine.
I've used Purolator. I've never seen anything that concerned me.
I also use factory Toyota.
As well as genuine Kawasaki for my newer motorcycle.
At least they are good as far as my extended warranty is concerned.

Ac Delco, Baldwin, Mopar, an Nissan are all quality on the inside too.

then there is the engine on that mbg.. old inline 4 tractor engine ..
44 SU carb [ skinners union] .. i hacked the exhaust off the intake . put on tuned tubes exhaust ..
tuned pipes ..

where the PVC valve once was[direct intake manifold injection ] fed in via coiled copper tube fluid from a jar .. metered .. a mix of mystery marvel oil . castor oil , methanol and nitro methane ..
this has quite an odor when it burns..

kinda funny .. the feed from the jar depends on the manifold pressure ..
thus ,, with large throttle input the jar feed less .
backoff the throttle and let the throttle plate close ,, jar feeds more .. quite a lot actually
back off the foot feed and in flows methanol and nitro methane , castor oil .. MMO

yea baby

love those pixs
clean machines
clean frame and a power plant
in the teens again in the morning ,, im takin the MGB out .
air in the tires .. Soup in the Jar .. i added Nitro-methane , Methanol and Castor oil 80/20,, MMO failed to measure the Nitro ,, just loaded some..
kinda floated . one wonders what will happen when the compartment warms up and i get some agitation from the road .

see the SU 44 single side draft Carb ?
the Jar has a needle valve and a sight glass ..
copper tube dumps direct to the intake manifold after the Carb.. ..Nitro...
for gauges on this effort the machine has an EGT and Manifold Pressure .
a sharp eye on manifold pressure will give an idea how much is being fed from the Jar to the Intake,,
...
idea is to get that EGT UP with a feather throttle ,, no smoke trail
shall i let you know how it goes ,, might make a good film ..
it is going to Stink ,, the combustion products from castor oil and nitro methane are quite sharp and distinctive.
