Why are pond plants so dang expensive?

That is the Cool thing about Gardening and Ponding.......you share with others.....Sarah and I gave away 47 Koi last year......and the people that we are connected with say they are thriving......we had a very cold winter here in Tennessee and and lost a lot of our marginal perennials......but we have picked up bits and pieces from friends......and the local nursery loves us......lol
