any suggestions as to how to keep algae at bay during the winter months?
I live in NE Ohio, once I cut back the plant in get this slimy green patchy blobs of algae. I use microbe lift and algae fix but they don't seem to keep up through the winter.
thank you in advance for the help.

A bit of string algae isn't a bad thing, especially if all your other plants are dormant now. It will help maintain water quality & give any fish you have a bit of something to nibble on. If it gets really obnoxious, you could just scoop or pick it out, but otherwise... I'd leave it alone & not worry.

I always have a nice carpet of algae in the spring. I just leave it alone and as the other plants start to grow, it goes away.
Here is a picture in March.
