I will post links to all filters I have. I get green water. Full sun, which will change hopefully this year with the building of a pergola. My water turns green. Never floating algae. Here are my filters:

(this is the pf1)

Now for the feeding pumps:

Feeding the sunterra piece and laguna piece (output of sunterra to laguna)

Feeding pf1 and uv light:

Any ideas? I have been battling this for awhile. I do weekly partial water changes. Help please. Is there something I am missing? I know about the doc filter, but from my understanding it is essentially like my PF1.

Edit: The pondmaster piece is using this kind of filtering material:

What % of the surface is covered by plants? You could always use something artificial that floats till the plants start growing more. Black plastic snap lids maybe?

I have hardy lillies slowly coming up with a little water lettuce. Working on that too. Last year I had about 35% surface coverage from my lillies alone. Same thing.

hydrogen peroxide works for getting rid of it. I used in arizona to kill off string algae.

I used 1 liter per 1000 gallons, my pond in arizona is 14k gallons so 14 liters. I have not had to use it in my maryland pond.

(just goldfish and shubunkins)

Not in my arizona pond, I would pour it in the stream so it was mixed well. I heard someone say it bothers koi, but I don't have koi.

The ratio I picked up from reading a site of the correct amount to use.

try extra oxygen in your pond I am still wondering if that is why I have no algae

I have koi, that may be a problem :(

You may want to do a search, one person said it bothered them, some said it did not. From what I can recall they were also saying the peroxide is the end product of the barley straw bales, I know people with koi use barley straw.

The one person said it caused red gills, the other person said koi have red gills. I have no clue lol.

nothing is straight forward and you never know which is right or wrong or what really works or doesn't or way is to try a small amount and just watch closely to see if it effects the fish .

did you put a new bulb in your uv this year as they only last about a year ? also is the uv light big enough for your pond ? air stones will help, but barley straw isnt for green water i don't think
