Hi! I’m so excited as this is my first post here 😊
We built an above ground 8000 liter pond this spring and added several different oxygenating plants, lillie’s and 10 goldfish. The pump runs the water through a natural plant filter.
The pond has no shade.
I added a thin layer of substrate to the bottom.
And planted the plants in some pond soil and gravel in mesh plastic baskets.
Could you tell me why some plants thrive (bright green and growing) and others are turning brown?
I’ve recently added some pond bacteria and it’s really cleared a lot of the algae 😊
Are there any plants you could recommend that would do well in this type of deeper water pond?
And any tips to keep the water clear?
I had more fish but the heron came by🥲.
Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the forum! Some plants adapt better than others to different water conditions. Do you know any names of the various plants that are doing good and bad? How deep is the pond? Water temperature? Info about your pump/filter? Often ponds will go through different phases as they become established.
