I think "algae eater" is kind of like "oxygenating plants" - sounds good, good selling point, but as @Mmathis said all fish eat algae.

Also remember that early season algae can be extremely beneficial, especially in a new pond. Before the other plant start growing the algae is helping consume the excess waste in the water. So don't be too quick to get rid of it.
