Red Daylily, Red Lobelia, Swamp Hibiscus. There may be others.

Ok looking at the zones for those:

Swamp Hibiscus... gorgeous but google says areas 7 to 10. Will it not come back? Anyone in the north successful?

Red Daylily - Wow very pretty choice. I saw it's 4-10. I'm gonna hunt for some!!!

Red Lobelia - I got two of those. I hope they come back this winter.

Anyone else?

Trumpet vine and honeysuckle grow well dawdling into moist ground. If you like butterflies, pickerel is exceptional...

Remember, hummingbirds prefer Red flowers.
If you can, get the specie daylily, Haemerocallis fulva "Ditch Lily". It thrives in most soil.

I planted some cardinal flowers last summer. Hummingbirds loved them, and it looks like they are coming back from a really long cold Cascadian winter (hard freezes, snow, silver thaw, more snow, ice rain, freezes, etc). They get full sun and the bog is surrounded by rough stacked concrete chunks, so maybe a bit of reflected heat.

I also planted some brilliant red Crocosmia that the hummers loved, but not sure if it's coming back yet. I shook a lot of the seed out in the fall, so that might help.

I'll second the cardinal flower (lobelia cardinalis I believe is the type). They say it's the reddest red in nature and the hummingbirds LOVE it! We can sit just a couple of feet away and watch them hover around it for an hour or more every day at precisely the same time. Between that and our butterfly bushes, they spend lots of time in our yard.

They will come back! I have a lot of them all self seeded from a few plants I put in years ago. Mine are ground planted.
