Hey everyone,

Iv been keeping an eye on these weird looking leafy things over the last few days, and my curiosity got the better of me.
On my lilies stems there are a couple of 3cm leaves (which look like torn off lily pad pieces). I pulled one off and opened it up to see a worm inside!
They are attached to the stems and when picked it off there was a hole in the stem.
I'm guessing this is a bad thing to have in a pond?

should I cheek every lily and rid these worms from the pond altogether?

I try post some pics of them later.

cheers.

It is best if you see them to remove them by hand, In most cases this only lasts for a short time for a specific species to breed and then you normally don't see it the rest of the season. If the leaf is badly damage just remove the whole leaf. It won't hurt the lily at all. taro's and thalias are prone to these also. The faster you can remove them the less damage they do. But they aren't going to kill your plant, they do move on once their life cycle is complete.
