This is my Diy Filter:
- 37 Gallon black rubbermaid heavy duty trash can with lid.
- Fluorescent diffuser cut to make top and bottom screen.
- Filter media, 200 ft. of polythene rope cut into 1.5 ft. sections then unraveled.
- 2 Bulkhead fittings (tank fittings) found at your local Co-op.
- PVC pipe, PVC Valve, 3 90 deg. elbows, 1 PVC T-fitting.
- Filter bag for activated carbon.
The filter is gravety fed and the outlet needs to be atleast 2X the size of your inlet. It seems to work great. The water comes in then down to the bottom then rises up through the media then out throught the outlet. I hope the diagram helps... I will post pics of the filter more in detail.
Thanks,
Zipper
