Hey y'all. I've been reading and reviewing all the wisdom on this forum for the last few years anytime I need expert advice 😁. So, I come to seek your experience!
I have a quarter acre pond, I just built a small bog to help aid in filtration for it. Where I'm running into issues is with my ducks! They have eaten all of the lily pads (that were in the pond), most of my iris plants (surrounding the pond/in the bog), and they're moving on to my elephant ears in the bog. How do I keep my loveable, yet destructive, assh*les from eating all my pond shade and nutrient suckers?! Fencing around it really isn't an option (bog maybe, pond no) as everything goes to the pond for a drink (chickens, turkeys, pigs, dogs, and other things that go bump in the night...). Thoughts/suggestions?

Ducks do love plants - maybe you could tempt them with some alternatives? Depending on your climate, you may be able to keep them sidetracked with some of these?

Could you look at the vegetation that grows in and around the natural ponds in your area? They will be surviving along with the wild ducks and geese, so would likely do well in your pond too. In our area, pigs tend to be quite destructive, and would most likely have to be fenced out.

Not sure it's going to be possible to keep those ducks out w/o a fence or some kind of barrier that will keep everything else out too.
Sorry, ducks rule

Good luck keeping them fed!
