The picture enclosed is of my two fish that will be moving into a pond soon. I'm not sure if I actually want them to breed or not but I would like to know their genders, if possible... They are about 15 cm (3 to 4 in) long from head to tip of the tail.
Additional questions:
Will having a belly full of eggs and not having a male to spawn with cause health problems?
Will any females get injured with the males chasing her around because I've read that koi fish get injured?
Should I seperate the fish (male with the egg-filled female) in a seperate spawn/hatchery cage or pond or something if I want them to spawn? Will they spawn anyway, even if a couple of males "want in on the action" so to speak?
Is there a suggested male:female ratio?
