Yes it is. This exemplifies one of the issues encountered in using well water. Well water is in a constant state of flux due to the original source of the water and the composition of the soil that the water percolated through.

That's painting with a wide brush Meyer. My well water is stable and has been so for over 12 yrs. All water has minerals and if all that's being done is top offs or trickle through changes then any water WILL increase in hardness and usually pH as well. Most ills can be fixed with water changes.
