Hi, I live in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). I have been keeping fish for 35 year and started into ponds 15 years. Last year, my wife and I built our largest pond to date, its 10' x 20' and approximately 2500 gallons. It is home to 8 large koi and too many babies to count...

Michael

@blessedfamily - Yes the pond is completely rocked. We weighed the pros and the cons, and we felt that adding rocks was the best option for our setup. We have had a couple of minor scrapes when they are breeding but other than that, no major problems. We test the water on a regular basis - zero ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and phosphates. Ph steady at 8.0.

@addy1 - Most of the plants have gone crazy this year, we are throwing out buckets of hyacinths, water lettuce, creeping primrose and parrots feather on a regular basis

Wow throwing away plants? Yikes I bet some of the peeps who live in Canada on this forum would be glad to take some off your hands and pay your shipping costs.
I'm jealous of all your nice plants. Water Hyacinth does not like me or anyways my weather here. Same w/ Water Lettuce

yep they do here, I had some parrots feather come back after winter, the primrose is rated as cold tolerant too, and invasive if not controlled. I had some in arizona, it does spread, just need to yank it back off and on.

Hi Michael, Welcome! Really nice plants and fish. I like your bridge a lot too. I am also throwing away about 5 or 10 plants everyday and have been doing this for the last month.
