Is there a Net w/ Small Enough Mesh to Scoop Mulm/Algae?

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if there is any sort of pond net with fine enough mesh to scoop up the mulm/algae debris from the pond bottom. Every time I try to scoop it up with an ordinary pool cleaner net, the stuff just disperses into a cloud. thanks.

you need a fines filter. then when you stir it up the filter will take it out, it will take many times. or suck the water directly off the bottom of the pond with a pond vac or shop vac.

Yes, algae is microns thin--too small for most nets. Your best bet is to grab some quilting batting at a craft store or Walmart or something like a pillow case. It's hard to pick up off the floor, but if you stir it up or put a hose on it, and then rig up a fines filter as Jason says, you'll get a good bit of it. You just put this stuff in a bucket with holes or colander under your waterfall and you catch a heap.

i just got a pool skimer net it works great but like the others said
build a fines filter

I am using the laundry basket with pillow stuffing right now. It really works awesome.

I use a common broom to sweep the bottom which stirs the mulm up into the filter.
