Absolutely Agreed and Amen! GETCHYA bog on!Abog filter best looking best functioning best no maintenance filter
The swimming pool becomes the bog, keep the Myrtles (and the better half) and swim in the pond. What could be simpler? If I could talk my better half into giving up her Crepe Myrtles I would have a bog…… but I have 4000 gallon pond with a 6000 gallon pressurized filter, skimmer, and waterfall, all have bio media in each. My skimmer and bottom drain are tied together feeding the suction side of my pump which sends the water thru my pressure filter back to the waterfall. As you can see I also have a overload of plants in the pond itself, so I have no problem with 8 large koi and a 10” goldfish. Someday I am going to wear her down and put a 40 ft long bog down the side of my pool……. LoL
Believe me I would get rid of the pool in a heartbeat……. But the Grandkid’s would not be very happy with me…. LoLThe swimming pool becomes the bog, keep the Myrtles (and the better half) and swim in the pond. What could be simpler?
So bad news, the guy in charge of excavating did not listen or did not understand to what I wanted. Instead of creating a shelve at 12" bellow top, he just dug the whole thing, so the pond is now a giant whole. Now what?
12 feet long by 7 feet wide by 5 feet deepAsk him to fill it in and try again? How deep is the hole?
Might be good news that you have heavy clay soil. 5’ wall might hold up over time. I’d never get away with that with my sandy loam, even filled with water.
Don’t think it’s critical that the walls are smooth as long as they’re free from sharp objects like stones and roots. What’s your liner material?
Is your EPDM larger than the hole enough that you can use a shovel to dig some shelves? It looks as if the ends on the short sides have a start for some shelves. You're doing fine on this!thats good at least, I am putting underlayment , I forgot how strong but it was the steongets the hardware store had , it is construction grade and was not cheap ( also garantie for life "wtv that means")
and epdm 45 mil

OK, then not BIG bigger. It looks as if you could dig a shelf on the far end or far sides, where the "dig line" is, or the place that makes it not a round hole. Or, fill some of the hole a few feet up, packing it with some mighty whacks of the shovel (ugh, and not the easiest to actually accomplish).I sure do hope so , my liner is 25 feet by 30 feet. So you mean by enlarging the actual pond? I was sorta trying to avoid doing so.
I think Ive decided not to do shelves since the wife does not want the pond any larger then what it already is (she was kind of shocked) Oh well...
