Earlier this spring I took my extremely rootbound lotus pot and divided it into 2 new pots. The tubers from the divisions were fairly big still, I didn’t separate into tiny little pieces. So I stuck some into each pot and they seem to grow well but no blooms. Leaves look paler too. My pond has no filter of UV so should be nutritious enough. So why isn’t it blooming?

Sounds like a lack of fertilizer issue, although I am not experienced with lotus. Perhaps your other plants are outcompeting the lotus for available nutrients or trace elements? I have similar issues with my lilies if not fertilized well.

I only ‘tried’ to feed it once last month with the tabs but they are from last year and crumbles when I grab them. Addy says she never fertilizes hers so I thought pond water would be nutritious enough without a filter.
I don’t have too much else plants in the pond, but I did notice my acorus gramineus did not bloom this year either.

I have purchased the Laguna once a year fertilizer spikes (the large ones) and I actually use them twice in a season. It seems to work well for me!

If I remember correctly addy has hers in a 300 gallon tub, big difference between that and a little pot. If in a pot it needs to be fertilized, I had one growing bare root in the pond, it grew like wildfire without and fertilizer, but it was growing loose in the pond.

I have mine in about a foot or more of kitty litter running free in a 300 gallon stock tank. The stock tank gets dirty water from the pond. Leaves, muck builds up it is never cleaned. The litter, btw, stinks horrible.

When I first put them in the stock tank, years ago, they got fertilized. I had them all in big tubs from Walmart, they did sort of ok, but once turned loose they bloom beautifully grow beautifully with no help from me.
