I did some research on the church. It was built in 1861 by German immigrants. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 and has a historical marker. "The church is currently taken care of by a private foundation. The interior of the church has been fully restored to its original condition and configuration."

Behind the church, just barely in frame is a cemetery on a small hill.

I'm back from - you guessed it - my annual fall camping trip. Got to see lots of fall colors this year. It was fun. Hiked maybe 5 miles on the Ice Age Trail, as well as other trails. Saw some wildlife. Did some biking. Not a bad few days.

Terrific photo's , as always. Cedar waxwings are some of my favorite birds. Thanks for sharing,

It was just announced that the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin is now a National Park! I've hiked three different sections of the 1200-mile trail many times and it's an amazing part of our state that SO many people enjoy using. Now it will hopefully be better maintained.

A few past photos I've taken on or near the IAT:

Short hike today. It was cold, but also nice.

At one point I heard a loud wooshing sound. I turn my head and there's a sandhill crane 20 feet from me in the air! It was in a small semi-wooded area along a prairie and I heard it as it was taking off. It looked at me, I looked at it, and then it slowly flew off. I was barely able to compose myself enough to snap this photo. :ROFLMAO:

I can't believe how lucky I got today. But during the solar eclipse, I had three bald eagles fly over my house! That's not a normal thing around here. Even better that there was at least one juvenile. These guys may bring up the population in my area!
