I am Sue and have a raised pond in my garden with 4 koi and several breeding goldfish. It is 4ft deep and was restocked with the koi following the big freeze in 2010 when I lost all of my koi due to pump failure and freezing over.

welcome sue and sorry to here you lost your fish to the freeze .You might be best in getting a pond heater just in case

Welcome, Sue! Sometimes we have no way to control those hard freezes, especially when the electricity is down for days on end. So sorry to hear about your fish loss. Better luck this time! Post pics of your pond and fish, when you get the chance. We all like pictures. What size is your pond?

Thank you all for your lovely welcomes. I am in the UK, so maybe not in the right place lol. The big freeze was far worse than we in Uk are used to -20 for quite a long time and here we do not have heaters built to cope with this. It's fine now though and I am home to keep the pump running

It was bad here last winter worse i have ever seen in a long time so guess this year it is socking people on the other side of the world .
