The clip was on NBC "Rock Center With Brian Williams" tonight.

Good to see a lot of effort went into making the production. Hopefully someday soon all news will be fake.

Actually they can go up to 25lbs but in nature are usually lighter. Not sure where you found that their limit for prey was 4lbs. They have confirmed kills of coyotes, foxes, goats and sheep and carrying them off. In falconry they have actually been used to hunt and kill wolves.

A 10-15 lb baby is probably doable for them. In the video he was clearly climbing with the kid. I think he just dropped it cause the people were getting to close and he couldn't climb fast enough.

The 4lbs was the lifting weight they could carry off with and found it on a few sites on the web.

Eagles sit at the top of the food chain, making them more vulnerable to toxic chemicals in the environment, since each link in the food chain tends to concentrate chemicals from the lower link.
A bald eagle's lifting power is about 4 pounds. They do not generally feed on chickens or other domestic livestock, but they will make use of available food sources. Bald eagles will take advantage of carrion (dead and decaying flesh). Because of its scavenger image, some people dislike the bald eagle. Other people do not care for powerful and aggressive birds. Still other people object merely on the grounds that it is a bird of prey, which kills other animals for food.

How big is an eagle? Bald eagles: males 3.5 - 4 kg (8 - 9 lb.), females 4.5 - 6 kg (10 - 14 lb.).

How much can an eagle lift/carry? An eagle can lift about half its own weight.

Guess I need to be on the lookout for hawks eyeballing my one smaller cat. The other cat is quite heavy and she's a real fighter so less worried about her. I've only seen the hawks around here hitting on pigeons, rabbits and smaller birds...............so far
