Not exactly sure what this plant is. Originally thought it was cattail, but now that its bigger I can tell its not. Whatever it is, it looks really cool right now.

I was also thinking iris but I wasn't exactly sure what it'd look like, and when I searched for photos of young irises, I didn't see any with purple like that.
Can't wait to see what it turns into!

I think maybe a Gerald Darby’ iris. If you search google images for Gerald Darby’ iris then a few look like yours

Thats definitely the closest thing I've seen so far. Definite possibility.

Thought I'd give an update. Its been growing like crazy since I first posted this. From 3" to probably close to a foot now! I also moved it to the bog. The tips of the leaves are brown for some reason but its been healthy and growing.

It is on a stem that is hard? It looks like one of my plants.............that I have sort of forgotten what it is, need to find my plant notes........

It seems very similar to the way cattails are, if that helps at all.

then not what I have, mine has more of a thick tuber type branch with roots coming out of it.

I didn't really examine it when I took it out and planted it in the bog. Had I thought of it, I would've taken a photo.
