I have a large poke weed plant next to my pond and it appears that when the fruits ripen they may fall into the pond. Is this a problem?

Yes, Poke weed berries are highly toxic. they have even been crushed and used for poisoning streams for illeagal catching of fsh. It can also be toxic, to dogs, cats, and humans. Funny thing is is is also eaten by humans when perpared correctly.

poke salad annie..., gator got your grannie. Yeah... pull it from over the pond, but leave it in the back gardens. The birds love 'em and for them it's not poisonous.
