Pond pump trouble

I have a pond with a waterfall it has stopped working and no water is going into the box the water is all brown. I have cleaned the pump and the magnet and it still not working. Can anyone help?

You can also use an ohm meter to see if it is the pump .but I agree with above plug it in somewhere else and see if it is working >make sure none of your hoses are blocked and caused the pump to overheat .What brand of pump is it and how old is it .Is there any damage to the power cord and is you circuit breaker tripped from a storm or something else .Go into your circuit breaker box and see if any are in the off position .If it fuses in your house since I do not know the age of it ,it could be blown .If it is on a gfi check that it has not been tripped

When I switch it on it runs for about five minutes the flicks itself off?

Some will still go on but for safety they will shut off due to lack of water or heat build up depending on the pump. I had one that would kick on but got hot and no water flow at all, it was toast. I did get it warranted but I switch to a different brand with is a far better pump.

As already said. Make sure nothing is blocking your flow

Sounds like your pump maybe no good
