I was looking to renovate my frog pond to make room to add some more fish. wanted to do levels like a typical garden pond instead of this one big bowl i have. would it be best to fill this with dirt and just redig from there? it’s already at it’s max width, i could make it longer but it’s on a slope so that would kinda off balance everything. just want to see how everyone else would go about redoing this pond.

Hard to say you mentioned as large as it can be because of a slope. if you have the pond close to this slope and you dug in the shelf its possible you may take away the stability of the side of the pond and you could have a blow out. But if thats not the case and its not the close then sure you can just dig the shelves out. if your leaning toward rock make sure the boulders are higher thas the shelves to hold back the gravel. If you go for it and you don't increase tgwe pond size but you gets the plants to grow because they are now on shelves will you regret not going larger

My ponds are on a serious slope. The only way I could make it work was to dig down the upper edge by 4 feet and build up the lower slope side by 7ish feet. After planting, rocks etc it all looks natural.
