Maybe we all ask ourselves this, I know I have. My prior experience in Fresh water Discus helps me to recognize the symptoms. A hobby is something you enjoy but an obsession is something that rules your very existence and that you spend every available moment thinking about or planning something related to it. Or maybe it's OK to be obsessed with something after all it's better than drugs!

1>You no longer take a vacation because nobody can follow your 4 page essay on the care of Koi.

Probably an obsession. Last night, at 1 AM I'm lying in bed with my wife, thinking of the how and why of upgrading my filter media, planning the actual action, until I drifted off to sleep. How screwed up is that?

I find myself doing the same thing and my personality type lends itself to this.
I just don't want it to get to the point that I'm not having fun anymore.

Love my pond to be, but can walk away and leave it too. My honey won't let me get obsessed, but it has taken over my summer doing the build.

My last 3 years of vacations have been on hold because of the Ponds and nursery. This thanksgiving is going to be in Jamaica. Son in training now.

Haven't had a good nights sleep in over a month with the new pond build and selling off of the excess koi. Doesn't help that hubby will be having surgery next month and hasn't been able to help with anything. I guess I fall in the obsessed group!

Dr, Dave! LOL! Crack me up! I've been training my girls - which is kind of like trying to herd cats. We have finally reached the understanding concerning "count fish daily" and I don't even have any Koi!
