sorry about your loss and strange how a heron can find that little opening so fast .I read on the internet and not sure if it is true but heron are afraid of red lights .I wonder if they are small red lights or big red lights and wonder if they think it is eyes from an animal .It really did not say but may be worth a try .

Maybe red eyes of a gator. Saw them at walmart last night. Think I'll invest in one.

So sorry that darn bird got your fish :(
Only a high net works for me now. Have a gator head but bird still came to visit. Had everything else from A to Z except the water motion detector but can't have that cuz pond is right near front door. People would be unhappy w/ me :)

Ugh.....so sorry, I just hate reading posts like this! I know they're doing what comes naturally, but somehow it bothers me less if they fish in the wild....not our domesticated ponds.

I have a friend that just bought a house with a pond and she said the former owner told her the raccoons had gotten all the fish but one! I don't think nets work on raccoons:(
