That is a big fluctuation for such a short time. Must be a low volume pond.
Goldies 52-58 deg F, maybe 1/3 of what you normally fed them. No more, it is time to wean them of food.

Will very carefully check water temps now, and be quick to cut them off if most of the days readings are around 55%. Thank you very much. Dr.Dave

Just picked up one of these bad boys this week for under $24.00 to make temperature taking easier. I did have to make a (simple to do and free) change to increase the range, and now I love it.

What a great idea! Was it difficult to reset the range for ponds?

No it wasn't. It is rated for up to 100 feet, but I could not get it to work at 55 feet through a window. So what I did was:

Step 1: Remove the back cover off of the receiving unit (the part that stays in the house).
Step 2: Drill a small hole in the top of the front piece.
Step 3: Ran the antenna wire that was inside the unit through the hole I drilled.
Step 4: Stripped about 3 inches of the antenna wires coating to make bare.
Step 5: Replace back cover.

Now it sitting on my kitchen window sill 55 feet away from my pond and has been working fine so far.

Also I purchased it from ebay, just go there and do a search for wireless pool thermometer.

As an Extra Class Ham Radio Operator I can tell you that is brilliant except for stripping the wire. That did nothing except giving corrosion a place to start.
Also where you set if is critical since the metal window frames will cause inteference.

I thought you had to reset the temperature range. Good to know that is OK.

HMMMM... 433 Mhz is in the Ham band. I guess that under 100mW it is ok if it is FCC Part 15, type accepted.
