Do you keep your filter in operation during thunder storms? I worry about lightening strikes, as we had a lightening strike on a tree near our pond. This was before we set up the filtration system last weekend. I am thinking I may shut it off during a storm. Any ideas?

I leave my pumps running, so far no issues. Not sure what to say about that one.

well not sure about tornado as if it is close you would loose electricity first .Most outlets a ground fault and you can get a built in surge protector on your circuit breaker box also .Protects everything in your house and only cost around 125 dollars plus installation .

2 years ago a tornado hit my town and it just 2 blocks away from my house. We went to check on the damaged area after it passed and all the houses that had gotten hit still had their power on because they were working on putting all the utilties underground. The side of town that was hit had already been done underground so no power was lost thank god because with that storm we got 4 inches of rain in 45 mins.

Most of our lines are underground, which is good with snow loads and trees.

Our lines are also underground but only in our neighborhood. The ones a few blocks away are up on poles so we still have power outages every year to some extent. Fortunately we have a big generator and a wood stove.

Good to have tho cuz ya never know.............might get a wild heavy, windy, wet, snow load or ice storm that knocks something out way up the road from you where power is up on poles. We went a week one year w/o power!
