Mine just began blooming maybe a week ago and have a long way to go yet so the hummers will have to live on the nectar cuz my feeders are inside now while the painting is going on. Addy are your hummers still feeding at your feeders? Mine stopped drinking from them around the 1st part of July for some reason and they did that last year also.

That's interesting and when we get through painting I will put just one up and see what happens.

I know sometime in august, early september they are gone almost as quick as they showed up. Just one day no more until the next spring arrival.

neat info jw. I have read some might stay here, but not here here i.e. frederick, we get cold, the eastern shore, cities might stay warm enough for them to survive. I have never seen any in the winter

If there aren't any feeders out in the winter in these places where they hang around all year I wonder what they eat?

I think that is why they say to pull your feeders even if you see some hummingbirds still around, to encourage them to migrate.

Yep easier for us to do it just in Summer too. They can head down South to Mexico where Bullfrog is hanging out now. I'm sure he has stuff blooming all year long down there that they would love.

I would go through 3 of the big feeders every few days in arizona in the winter, there were so many migrating and permanent hummingbirds.

Yikes that would be a lot to care for all the time! Would be easier to just have plants that they liked to drink from.

I just kept a gallon of mixed sugar water in the refrig, and had one always cleaned feeder. Easy to rotate them that way. Fill replace and clean the empty one for the next empty feeder. Loved watching all the different hummers. I had the feeders hanging right outside the kitchen window.
