What a bummer! Sounds like you need 5 new ones to make up for the loss.
Thanks, it was a bummer. I was kind of partial to that koi, it was a chagoi butterfly, not flashy at all, we actually called him shadow because he just blended in with the stones, guess not enough lol.
I saw the heron fly off from a tree just as I was leaving the house, it was overlooking the pond. So I am screwed. I do have a fish cave in there, maybe I need to add another space for them to hide. I am not going to net the whole pond, maybe put some cables around. Its just tiresome dealing with this.

I don't think there's a cave in the world that can save your fish from a heron. They will wait for HOURS for fish to come to the surface. My daughter sent me a reel of a heron "fishing" with a piece of bread it picked up on the side of a lake. Tossing it in and snatching it back out until a fish got close enough to grab it and bam. Fish gone. And then it started all over again. They will upchuck in the water to draw the fish up. They are relentless.

My birdfeeder cam activated at 1:00AM last night and caught a raccoon poking around the pond. Time for my stinky peppery brew. Pesky critters but they can be convinced to go elsewhere.

My net over my pond is getting old and deteriorating fast. The sides hanging down to the short wire fence are still good. When the top finally gets too bad I think I will just run some fish line across the top along w/the rope that held the net up. See how that goes. Heron and other large birds don't like lines that are in their flight path.

The mistress of doom, lol. You know for almost two years I had no heron. Then last weekend I use your SPC for pond clean up and the heron shows up. Coincidence? I think not;)

Thank you for the kind offer but with the claims I have against @Lisak1 for fraud, intentional infliction of emotional distress, animal cruelty etc I will be able to join you in a very comfortable retirement.
