Of course they are going to spawn when you're not ready. It's the call of nature. The change in environment was all they needed. Good luck on collecting. Let us know if they go for a double dip. May be more females that will be ready tonight.

Murphy's law, when your ready they won't, when they're ready you aren't. LOL
I've been ready for a spawn since early spring and NOTHING! If they did is was small and virtually unnoticed. Nothing like that! Hope your able to save some and hopefully there's another to follow, get the mops in and see if they go at it again. Last year mine breed one day waited a day another one breed, and then a week later the last ones. But we were getting rain, So far this year since April 15th we have gotten a whopping 1/2" of rain total and that's what was the trigger point for me last year.

Koi Cialis. I have seen it all now. Should have a warning label. Not be used in ponds that are also used for swimming.

I can see it now. "DH, why have you climbed in the pond to clean it out every day this week? Is it really that dirty?"

What got them going was the water change. You just moved them outside. It is a trick that a major breeder here taught me. He has 80,000 Koi.

Yeah, I know about the water change ...just wanted a day or 2 to get prepared!....and 75% of the water is from the basement pond..figured that should have bought me some time!...oh well, I was a month behind getting them outside..side note: she wasnt even that big, i wondered if she had any eggs at all,. I was just out there, theres still eggs everywhere..and the only real good part is they only unpotted one small lilly...aside of the eggs it now looks like nothing happened!

fixed my 4' ring today and notice theres quite a few eggs in my hyacinth roots... i need them in the pond for shade and filtration...i figure friday and saturday the eggs will start hatching...maybe if it cools down i can move them to the tub for a day or 2 to let them hatch there.
