Topping off pond

How do I safely top off my small 100 gallon pond with well water. I need to add maybe 5 gallons.

Just turn on the water and let if flow in slowly.

You shouldn't have to do anything more than grab a hose and fill it up.

Just try not to forget about it and let it overflow

I never have but I've come very close.
