Hello everyone,
Does anyone know of a species of turtle that wont destroy pond plants?.. I enjoyed having a red eared slider turtle in my pond for years but I have also enjoyed how nice my plants grow since shes been gone. Would like to get another one but I dont know if I want to sacrifice all my beautiful plants.
Cheers,

Diamondback terrapins are strictly carnivores and will leave plants alone. The only caveat is they are found strictly in brackish water in nature. They can be adapted to freshwater as hatchlings but not adults unless they were raised in freshwater. I have 2 terrapins in my pond for 9 years now and they completely ignore all plants.

Painted turtles while omnivorous stay smaller than red ear sliders, and are a little less destructive to plants.

Check your state laws to see what turtles you are allowed to keep.
