Oh yeah, it's a never-ending job!

Just for the fun of it, here are some photos of my non-pond landscaping project: I found some really huge paver stones on FB Marketplace. I just had to go and dig them out and transport them (took three car loads with my little Vitara). But what to do with them?
Now, right off our main back patio is a huge pomegranate tree underplanted with ferns. Every year I was pouring way too much water into keeping those ferns alive. So why not take out most of them and add a patio? Here's the work in progress... And no, it wasn't at all easy figuring out the best way to piece this jigsaw puzzle together, when each rock was too big to lift. I had to roll them, pinwheel style, into place.

And here's the (almost finished product) just need to plant more thyme between the pavers.

Next up:

Bog
Stream
Cinderblock stairs from the vacant lot descending to our lot
Find a way to keep garden wall from toppling...
I'm looking at all the wood around @YShahar PROPERTY AND HOW IT'S NOT ALL FADDED OR COVERED IN ALGAE a clear benefit to living in the desert. I still want to olive branch ah um bench

When you're that good at ponding, who cares how you type?

Oh yeah, you got that right! Every time he posts a photo, it makes me rethink my life choices.

Besides, @GBBUDD , your typing gives us the same kind of puzzle-solving pleasure as @combatwombat gets out of Wordle! ;-)

Welcome to the jungle! haha!

This is my pond last August with everything going crazy. About 3/4 of the perimeter of the pond is mulched path. We put the stone walk in the previous summer. The rest is just plants gone wild. Amazing how much growth you can get in a few months time!

I’m almost done building my pond. (What a fun new hobby/obsession!) We got rid of the kids swing set now that my oldest is driving and my youngest is not far behind. We had a large rectangle of mulch which we recently pulled up with the intention of turning back into grass (how boring). Then I decided hey, this would make a great home for a fish pond! Always been a dream but honestly didn’t think it was doable until I found this site. Surrounding my pond is a circle of dirt. I hoped to find some inspiration out there. Please share pictures of how you landscaped around your

I managed to find pictures of my pond in all the seasons. I’m going to try to list plants l have in the bog, around the pond, and in the pond- this is going to be lengthy, so l apologize in advance- l have an obsessive/collector personality. 😂 Ok, here goes:

Around the pond: blue-eyed grass, yellow-eyed grass, lipstick sage, creeping jenny (3 color variations), woolly thyme, margarita daisy, obedient plant, bellflower, water mint, pacific iris, siberian iris, bloody dock, soft sedge, bluebells, butterfly bush, oregon grape, hosta, Indian pinkroot, purple-flame iris, varigated leaf iris, creeping speedwell, hens-and-chicks, columbine, foxglove, buttercup, forget-me-not, crocus, grape hyacinth, pink weeping cherry, rhododendron, pink magnolia, arrowwood viburnum, perennial wild sweet pea, daffodil, lilac, snowdrop, white yarrow, lithadora, douglas fir, sugar maple.

In the bog: blue arrows rush, lizard tail, swamp milkweed, pickerelweed, carus sedge, sweetflag acorus, forget-me-not, bloody dock, cardinal flower, water mint, kennilworth ivy, marsh marigold, water iris, arrowhead plant, calla lily, common cattail.

Submerged in the pond: hardy water lily (OMG- l think l’m up to 8 varieties now), aponogeton distachyos ,elodea canadensis, hornwort, eelgrass, a wide-leaf variety of valisnaria, four-leaf water clover.

Marginals in the pond: carus sedge, lizard tail, purple water iris, japanese iris, yellow iris, Louisiana iris, duck-potato arrowhead, marsh marigold, bloody dock, society garlic, chameleon plant, pickerelweed, water plantain, hardy canna (Thalia dealbata), saggitaria latifolia, blue arrows rush, graceful cattail.

So, if you’re still awake, thats my (very excessive) list. You might be able to incorporate some of these in the landscaping around your new pond. If you have questions about anything on my list l’ll do my best to answer.
