This is my favorite time of the year fall/winter.

Unfortunately, we're dealing with an injury with one of our dogs, Bear. He was running through the forest and got a 1/2" stick lodged in his throat.
The vet, using ultrasound and mri found a number of pieces lodged in his soft tissues and he is currently in the hospital undergoing evaluation for sepsis.
Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, the estimated bill is between $5k and $7k.
I hate this. We don't have human kids so these dogs are our kids.

I hate this.:(

Aww Mitch, so sorry about your pup. I can totally understand I have spent more than a few pennies on my four legged children.
Best wishes to the recovery of your doggie son. Speedy and good recovery.

Thank you guys, the surgeon is giving him a 50/50 chance of survival. We live in a rural area that doesn't have the expertise that the city does, otherwise Bear would have received critical care sooner.
Damn my selfishness for living in a remote area.

Awww, MitchM, I'm so sorry to hear of your dog's injury :( Positive thoughts for his recovery and healing. What type of dogs do you have...I know you said they're large.

Yes it makes issues, but think of what a good life you are giving your pups.
They are happier there than in a tiny city back yard.

We are closely watching Matthew, the path is drifting slowly closer to our rentals down in south Florida. Hope it heads out to sea. Assessments after a hurricane hit can be heavy.

Going from bad to worse... Going to Minus 6 Celsius by Thursday. That will be hard frost and most plants will die. All good things come to a end.... At least I have everything in heated greenhouse. But I still need to get guppies. They have plastic dome and heater right now so they should be fine for now.
