I looked out earlier and it was raining and made a cup of coffee and looked out and it had stopped already .I guess the heavier rains are on the other side of us

49°F now, but I think we were in the low 50°s today. Grilled out today for the first time this year. Gotta love it! Still expecting another week of this weather before it drops down again.

You do slow the water flow during the winter though, right? (by using a smaller pump?) At least I thought I remember you saying that
I shut down the extra summer pumps and I usually switch to a little smaller pump on top pond, but I still have regular flow to middle and bottom pond. Spring is coming and I would get your pumps going. ..

Rain is coming. Had to shut off my big aerator. Think it was too soon. All the fish were down at the other end today keeping away from all those cold bubbles. I'll wait till it's warmer before I turn it back on again.

Now that I turned the aerator off all the fish are spread out here and there throughout the whole pond. Poor fish were all huddled up down at the calm end before I turned it off. Won't be as cold at night here now w/the rain coming. Was in the 30's every night but now I see it will be in the high 40's. Fish will be begging for food.

Woke to weather fog and drizzle, but now 52 and sunny. We've had quite a bit of rain for the last few days, so the pond is full. I hooked up the hose and let it splash into the pond for 20 minutes ( added dechlor) for a "gentle water change". The fish are lazily starting to move about and liked the splash of the hose.

I found one tiny dead koi fry, probably not even an inch, but that is all so far. My five big ones look good, I not no problems when observing them. Lots of free algae, but that is every year...it breaks apart and makes such a mess. I needed some, but am also hoping the fish start munching on it.

Glad to read about your aerator @j.w , as I wasn't sure when to put my big one in. Guess I'll stick with the small one for now that's been running over the winter.

I also bailed out my container bog and picked out dead leaves etc. Let nice to be outside :)
