When I was a little girl (3), every Sunday morning, my father would pick up The New York Times at the local pharmacy. (there was no home delivery, as we lived on an RFD (Rural Free Delivery) route in Maryland.) On the way home, we'd walk through the County Courthouse grounds which had a small ornamental pond/ fountain: with goldfish! I loved them, so my first pet was a goldfish in a tank. Over the years, many tanks, many goldfish, and decades later, I bought a home with a 1930's concrete pondlette (200 gallons?) that the owners had stocked with a 15" koi. Thus began the saga: "the koi needs a bigger pond .. an even bigger pond ... I need a bigger pond for the new koi (a yamabuki ogon) ... I'm moving to Florida and the Big Yella Fella (the koi) is coming with me". That's my fish story: it's ALL Dad's fault.

Speaking as a dad who encourage the youngins to have the kind of fun that gave mom anxiety and panic attacks. Good dad!
