Thread title is a bit of a rhetorical question, but I bumped in to this article which I think might interest many of you:

I just got my ammonia test kit, and couldnt decide whether I was measuring zero or 0.2 ppm. Lets put it at 0.1 ppm. Now Im unsure how to interprete that with the above table. My water temperature is 12C, my Ph is 7.5. Looking that up in the table, I find 2.94. Does that mean that the upper safe limit of total ammonia that my kit measures would be around 3 ppm for my current temps and acidity? (and yeah less is of course better, I know that).

FWIW, same test kit reports unmeasurable amounts of nitrite and nitrate. I guess my plants are doing their job, but my biofilter is still "warming up". No surprise there, I put in most of the media less than a week ago.
