Temperature was mid 90s full sun very unusual for this time of year

I'm still just not sure the Miracle Grow soil, with moisture control, is the main culprit. 300 gallons , in direct sun, would heat up very fast....do you run an aerator and circulate the water? I put up shade sails over my pond last summer, as we lost a tree. Costco sells them very reasonably priced.

Filter has a bell fountain. Would heat tint water brown?
I think the soil caused the tinted water....maybe put a little in a bucket of water and see what happens. I am just not convinced the soil is what caused all the fish to die. It could be a combination of the soil and high temps / low O2.

Agree with the following suggestion:

1- remove the old water.
2- add an aerator
3- add one fish a week
4- keep water changes frequent till nitrites are constantly 0

I know you have prolly already disposed of the fish bodies but if you have access to them you might want to do an autopsy on one or two and see if there are any of those pellet things inside the stomachs. I think @Mmathis or someone can help you on how to do the autopsy.
