Hello I am making a pond for young koi and was thinking what filter I should use I have a four foot wide four foot long five foot deep hole and I am waiting for the pond liner to be delivered but in the meantime I want to figure out if I should use a old filter I already have or get a new one or make my own out of a large storage container. I am new so I will need it to be made simple,
Thanks
George

Welcome aboard, 4' wide 4' long and 5' deep.??? Sounds more like a water well. Lots of intresting reads in the DYI section here on the forum for fikter builds. I would recommend giving more detail as to what your plan is what your doing and where your located. May work for a while with small 2-3" koi. May could keep two or three for a year, but's it's WAY to small for larger koi as they grow. Oh BTW, a Koi 3" koi can grow to be a 10" koi in just one season. So your going to out grow that size pond VERY fast. I would go way bigger or scrap the idea of Koi and stay with Goldfish..

Glad you joined!

Gold fish and shubunkins can be really pretty, and not that expensive.
